A Fūzansha room with calligraphy, ceramics and old wooden furniture

HOUSE

Walk through the house.

Inside 風山舎

The house

A house that keeps its time.

This is not a newly made place.

The beams,
the shoji,
the worn furniture—

they remain with the time already lived here.

Entrance · Earthen floor

From outside, in.

Open the door and step onto the earthen floor.

Leave the brightness behind
and enter the quiet presence of timber and earth.

Veranda · Windows

Where the breeze passes.

Open a window and the garden air moves along the corridor.

Here, the line between indoors and out feels a little softer.

Living spaces

A place for doing very little.

Drink tea. Sit by a window.

In the unplanned hours,
the sounds of the house slowly come into focus.

What time leaves behind

Do not erase the time.

Nothing old is here simply to look old.

We care for things so they can continue to be used,
while the worn timber and faded pottery remain.

The marks of time are part of what makes the house.

Where you sleep

A place to sleep.

At night, futon are laid out in a tatami room.

From here, learn more about the stay.
